Today we wanted to do a non-full-length show, but just a quick kind of chat about Charlottesville,

the ACLU free speech, and of course, the value of punching Nazis.

So a lot of back and forth, both in the media and social media, on the ACLU's absolute

disposition in defending the far right Nazi protestors, that's a silly word, Nazi gathering,

clan meeting.

And Charlottesville, Virginia, this is something obviously the ACLU has done before defending

the rights of Nazis.

And it seemed uniquely unqualified for the times.

It was really awkward to watch them squirm while Nazi literally was running over left

wing and liberal protestors about 20 of them.

It all became very not abstract, you know?

That there's a reality to contend with rather than abstract legal pressure.

Right.

And this hardcore libertarian position that speech is absolute and that the ACLU needs to

defend it, seems again, seems to have, seems incongruent with the times.

And I wanted to be fair to the free speech absolutist crowd, you know, and I wanted to

present their arguments in good faith, but we're going to, so we're going to come in.

But not by, but not by inviting them onto our show.
