We are going to be speaking today with Sam Adlerbell, a policy associate in the Privacy

Security and Surveillance Program at the Century Foundation, whose work has appeared

in the nation, the New Republic, Jacobin, lots of other places. And he has a new excellent

piece in Mask Magazine about the J20 case. A 5500 word magnum opus.

Yeah, it's really fantastic. So Sam Adlerbell is going to join us to kind of update our listeners

on the current state of the trials facing those who were kind of swept up in auguration

day.

Yeah, so we had a, we obviously did an episode on this back in like two months ago, basically

at this point, or we covered the media coverage of it. But we wanted to follow up on it for

a number of reasons. We wanted it's gone to trial. And number two, you had noted the

same kind of wrote what was a seminal piece, if you will, of really dissecting it. Because

not too many people who have gotten into the weeds of it. Right. A lot of slogans, you

know, I'm guilty of it as well, where you sort of talk about the prison sentences. But

the logic behind it, the prosecutorial logic and the sort of racial and class implications

of it are something we want to get into and I'm excited to get into.

Yeah. On the original show we did a little while ago, our guest was the awesome Sam Menafilai

of the DC legal posse. So now we have Sam Adler Bell because apparently when we talk

about J20, we can only talk to people whose name is Sam with a hyphenated last name. So
