Summary

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that New York will adopt the CDC’s guidelines to not require masks, inside or outside, or social distancing for people who are fully vaccinated. The CDC said adults and children who aren’t vaccinated still need to wear masks. Many states have lifted restrictions and started reopening as more people have received the vaccine. Dr. Leana Wen is an emergency room physician and the former Baltimore health commissioner. She tells Anderson Cooper only 37% of the population is fully vaccinated so “we have to consider our obligation to protect the most vulnerable” and right now policies don’t reflect that. Plus, Joel Greenberg, a former Florida tax collector and close confidant of Rep. Matt Gaetz, formally pleaded guilty to six federal charges. Greenberg admitted to a judge he had knowingly solicited and paid a minor for sex. Federal investigators are looking at whether Gaetz broke federal sex trafficking, prostitution and public corruption laws and whether he had sex with a minor. He hasn’t been charged and denies any wrongdoing. Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig joins AC360 to discuss what Greenberg’s guilty plea could mean for Florida Congressman.  Airdate: May 17, 2021   Guests: Dr. Leana Wen Elie Honig To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Good evening, Republicans, who say they've had enough, the Republican led Big

0:04.1

Lie about the 2020 election. There's just one catch. They're not the

0:07.2

Republicans who can do much about it other than speak out. That's because the

0:10.9

Big Lie is coming from the very top of the party. And as we'll discuss in a

0:14.4

moment, it's being embedded by some of the nation's top GOP lawmakers who are

0:17.9

currently in power. That said, these particular Republicans, officials in

0:22.0

Maricopa County, Arizona, do have two things in their favor. They have the facts.

In this case, about the election, that the former president has been trying to

0:29.6

discredit as a partisan bunch of so-called cyber ninjas combed the ballots for

0:34.6

regularities that have been ruled out again and again. They have the facts about

0:39.0

that and they are angry. This is Stephen Ritcher, Republican Maricopa County

Recorder, who heads up the County Election's Department. I have been accused of

inserting fake ballots delivered from a South Korean plane. The claims have

0:52.7

even been indulged by the Senate majority whip. More recently, I have been

0:57.8

accused of deleting entire databases, even though I participated in the

transference of all databases to the Senate, have seen them with my own eyes,

and even though I still have access to the current fully functional voting

database. It is enough. I didn't want to get involved. I wanted to sit quietly on

1:17.1

the sidelines, but it is enough. I am now the leader of an office of 160 full-time

employees, and I am tired of hearing them defamed and ridiculed. They are good

people. They are hardworking people. They are people of integrity. They are my

friends.
