There's this thing in crime reporting called a purplock.

It's when prosecutors give reporters a heads up, basically saying, hey, be here at this

time at this place and you will get a picture of someone in cuffs on their way to face

a judge.

Authorities like these purplocks because, well, even if you haven't been proven guilty,

photos of you walking in the court don't help.

There was no purplock for Donald Trump yesterday, but there didn't really need to be.

In fact, our reporting team tells us he's actually in the elevator in Trump Tower making

his way down right now.

Everyone in New York City had already been told that for the first time in American

history, a former president was about to make his way to a courthouse to turn himself

in.

All right, so I'm standing right outside, right across the street from the courthouse

where former president Trump's going to arrive and, in fact, he'd just been told, he's

in the car.

He's on his way.

Grand jury and Manhattan had indicted Trump after seeing evidence laid out by Manhattan

district attorney Alvin Bragg.

But as for what those charges were, no one knew for sure.

They were still under seal.

And so it was with that level of uncertainty that Trump left his midtown apartment in

a motorcade yesterday afternoon and took the 10-minute drive downtown.
