I'm John B from gangreneation.com, and on today's show, we're talking about the quarterback

position for the New York Jets. We'll discuss why a reclamation project to back up Gino Smith

does not make a lot of sense. We'll also talk about why adding a second veteran quarterback

would be a good move. But we'll begin by talking about Ty Simpson, who is the consensus number

two quarterback prospect in this year's NFL draft. And there are rumors that the Jets may pick him at either 16 or 33.

In fact, Mel Kuiper Jr., one of the best known analysts of the NFL draft, he works for ESPN.

In his latest mock draft this week, he had the Jets picking Simpson at 16. And I won't lie to you.

I do have some misgivings about Ty Simpson.

There are aspects of his game that kind of scare me.

He does not have a lot of starting experience.

That's something I value in a quarterback.

I think that there is a direct connection between game started in college and readiness in the NFL.

It's kind of common sense.

The more experience you have, the more familiar

you are with passing concepts, the more familiar you are with defensive concepts. And it's

something that can only be learned over time. I like my quarterbacks to have extensive starting

experience. I don't think Simpson has that. I also don't love the way Simpson finished his college

career. I like quarterbacks who finish their college career on an upward trajectory. I like to see

progress. Simpson does not have that. But again, what I want and what the Jets do are frequently
