Each Wednesday we try to do a mailbag with listener questions, but before we get to that,

we have some Jets news that broke yesterday.

It is a high-profile defender getting a new contract, and no, it's not Hassan Reddick.

The Jets have reached terms on a contract extension with Michael Carter the second.

The fifth round pick from 2021, who has blossomed into one of the league's top slot corners,

is staying in New York for three more seasons. It is a three-year contract extension worth

$30 million, $20 million of that is guaranteed. And it does not go into

effect until next season. So Michael Carter the second is in the fourth and final season of his

rookie contract. The extension kicks in next year. So there is no change to the jet salary cap structure

in 2024. This is just a pure extension. They did not alter the last year of

his current deal. And, you know, I have to tell you, I am absolutely delighted by this development.

I think it's an outstanding move by the New York Jets. You know, when the Jets hired Joe Douglas as their

general manager back in 2019, there was a lot of fanfare with it in the media, especially in the national media in the
