I simply could not wait until Monday to talk about this game. The Jets were defeated by the New England Patriots 25 to 22 in Foxborough. The Jets are now

two and six. They're on a five game losing streak. The seasons off the rails. This team is in free fall. And I think it's fair to say right now. This is one of the five worst teams in the NFL. There's no other way to put it right now because the Jets just lost to an absolutely terrible football team in New England, a team that did everything in its power to give the Jets the game.

one? It's a team that's lacking talent. It was a team that was down to its backup quarterback

as its dynamic young pastor Drake May was injured in the first half of this game. And I know the

temptation a lot of people are going to have is to pin

this loss on the kicker Greg Zerline. And I think a lot of people are going to say, well, if it wasn't for Zorlinds misses this year, the Jets would be five and three or six and two. But you can't blame this loss on Greg Zorline. There are a couple reasons for that. Number one, this game should not have come down to Greg Zorline. The Patriots were in absolute disarray entering this game.

absolute disarray entering this game. This was a team that was on a six game losing streak. A team, the Jets had handled, by the way, week three. You may remember that game back in week three. The Jets dominated the Patriots 24 to 3. They were coming back from a London trip. So this was a team that had to deal with that enormous challenge of playing a week after you played in London.

You may have read up on all the controversy this week surrounding their head coach, Gerard Mayo, who, you know, insinuated the team was soft and that created all sorts of issues within the locker room. I'm sorry, you can't tell me that a game like this should come down to the kicker. And that's the same is true. A lot of these other games this year. You can't tell me a game against Denver where the Broncos couldn't even throw the ball. That game should not have come down to the kicker. It's easy to blame this stuff on Greg Zerline. But you know what? Greg Zerlind did not commit eight penalties. Greg Zerlind did not waste four timeouts trying to avoid delay of game penalties because

they either couldn't get the play in on time or they lost focus on the play clock.

And Greg Zerlind wasn't the reason they took, they actually took a delay of game penalty

without calling a timeout on a critical two-point conversion.

Greg Zerline did not let a backup quarterback on a critical two-point conversion. Greg Zerline did not let a backup

quarterback, a backup quarterback drive 70 yards on what was supposed to be a vaunted defense to win the

game. And on that drive, that 70-yard drive, Greg Zerline did not allow a completion on 3rd and 9. He did not allow a

completion on 3rd and 10. And he did not with the game. And in some ways, you could argue, the season potentially on the line, one yard away, fourth and goal, less than a, less than a half minute to go. Greg Zerline did not get pushed around. Greg Zerlind did not allow the Patriots to score. You want to put, you want to put some blame on Greg Zerline? Absolutely. Look, I'm not going to defend him. He's been bad. But that leads me to my second point. Two, three weeks ago, I can understand at least to a degree putting the blame on Greg Zerline. This is on Joe Douglas. Greg Zerlis should not have been the kicker in this game.

Why was Greg Zerlein allowed to take the field in this game? We've known for weeks this was an issue. We've known for weeks he's been inconsistent. It's clear that it's in his head. Even last week, you know, he had the kick blocked. You know, was it his fault? Well, it's sure looked to me like that kick, if you watched it against the Steelers. it looked like it was going wide anyway.

It's clear that, you know,

his head is not straight right now.

And I said this weeks ago, look, it's one thing if you say, if you want to say Greg's been good to us the last couple of years, he's a popular figure in the locker room. We're not going to cut him. and if you wanted, you know, a couple weeks ago,
