According to Adam Schaefter of ESPN, Center Josh Myers has agreed to a two-year contract

extension worth $12 million, so a $6 million annual salary.

This answers a lot of questions we had about how the Jets would approach the offensive

line heading into the offseason.

Things were very unsettled on the interior.

Joe Tippman's under contract for the next couple of years, but everything else was up in

Myers was set to be a free agent, left guard John Simpson set to be a free agent. Elijah Vera Tucker, remember him, a guy who's played very well when he's healthy, but is seldom healthy. He's also set to be a free agent. So there was a lot up in the air. And Tipman was the one constant. Tipman was the one guy you knew would be here next year, but he did not know where he was going to slot in. And I think we now have clarity on that. I think first of all, this is a move that makes sense for the Jets. $6 million, not a lot of money for a center. I'm not going to say Josh Myers is a great center, but he's provided a level of stability at the position this year. And he was signed originally to be a backup. Vera Tucker's injury forced the Jets to kind of reshuffle their offensive line. Joe Tipman was going to be the starting center. Now, I know the Jets said that there was a position battle in training camp and through the preseason. I don't know how much I really believe that.
