Hi, Slayer here, backspox is Major Nelson. Welcome to the official Xbox podcast. Here we are rolling into well in the Northern Hemisphere summer, wherever you are, maybe in the Southern Hemisphere. It's winter. You know, we just had the longest day of the year gang. Hello, Rebecca. Hello, Jeff. So long. Yeah, so long. All downhill from here. Well, no, or if you're, you know, under the equator, the bottom half of

0:30.0

the, the, the globe, it's the shortest day of the year. It's uphill. I got the most emails on that day of any day, so far in 2023. If that's this year, is that, is that what, is that what the system has to write emails? That's how I measure it. I don't know what, I don't know how everyone else doesn't. All right. Well, anyway, welcome, welcome back to the show. Welcome back, Rebecca. Welcome back, Jeff. It's nice to have you guys back in. Talk about what we're playing this week. Some of the news of the week. We got some, we're talking about some hardware stuff later on. Oh, yeah.

1:00.0

Well, the hardware. Well, I've got the gloves because not only we can talk about, you know, this stuff, see how wrapping them in the gloves. But we're also going to talk about some other piece of hardware too that Jeff's got some notes on. So we'll talk about that. But anyway, video games. That's why we're here. We like them. We make them, we play them even. So let's, Rebecca, what do you, what have you been playing this week? Sure. So there's some good stuff that's come out on game past recently. Yeah. I just started playing.

1:30.0

I'm going to butcher the, it's a French title. It's called Dordon. Dordon. Dordon. Yeah. Yeah. I want to take this out. Tell us about it. Yeah. It's, it's, so I finished Planet of Lana, which I think I had also described as kind of like a water color. Yeah, we had some video last week of you playing. Yeah. So Planet of Lana, great game. Pretty short. Good story for a game with like no, no real dialogue. But yeah, that was, that was awesome. But then this game, Dord,

2:00.0

Dordon has like much more of a water color feel. Even more. Also. Yeah. Wow. Okay. It kind of seems like it bounces between 2D and 3D sometimes, which is a really interesting art style. So that's kind of what drew me in. And then I, I watch the trailer and the gameplay is fairly simple. I would say it's more focused on the story. So you're kind of living through this character Mimi and getting flashbacks of her like summer in France with her. I think it's her grandmother. But yeah, so the, so the

2:30.0

gameplay is fairly simple. It's kind of helping Mimi, you know, do like simple puzzles and actions. But the story looks really nice. And then obviously it's a really gorgeous game. So yeah, I just picked that one up and I will be playing this weekend. And then I'm looking for it now, by the way, I'm listening to you. I'm just looking for. I know I don't have it up on the TV. Sorry. I also, I also only have like a third of my TV. That's visible. So it doesn't really have the same effect as with you guys. Have you guys ever, I know there it is.

2:58.8

You want to see this corner of what I'm playing? Have you guys ever played stacking? It's an older title, but it just can't. Yes, I actually, I actually have something to show you. Oh, I know what you've got. Yeah, I'll let you talk by the way, I want to talk about something, gentlemen and ladies last week. When we were doing the show, I, I can't remember, I had to go off, go off, mic for a little bit and go to my kitchen and get the, get the papers. All any of this. Yeah. And there was a quite a saucy conversation.

3:28.7

Going on in my absence, when I was, when I was editing the show, I was like, Oh, I see what goes on when I take my headphones off. Go back and listen, you'll see it. Maybe be prepared. Keep it short, because I'm only going to be off for about three seconds. Okay. Okay. But yes, my shirt, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, I thought, yeah, I tell, no, tell us about stacking, because this is a game that I was really into when it first came up on the street school. Well, I haven't played it, but it just came to

3:58.7

Xbox Game Pass. So I have it downloaded, but I, yeah, I saw some of the screenshots I read about it. It seems pretty cool. And obviously Double Fine makes some amazing games and I'm hoping you guys could either give it a seal of approval or tell me to go elsewhere. And it sounds like it has the seal of approval. Oh boy. Yes. So not only do I have one of the dolls because it's stacking. Yeah, I have them all. Oh, so cool. So this is, this was actually a gift when Double Fine, this is actually before we own it.

4:28.7

I mean, it's the perfect merch for the game. Oh, yeah, this is like 2010, 2011. And so I remember getting this from, from Tim Schaeffer. And it's, I have, you know, you and Jeff, you and Rebecca, you and I work on a lot of video games. Rebecca, you spend so much time on Minecraft and Jeff on a bunch of different games. And once

4:48.7

in a while, we get, we get these interesting little gifts and chachkis, we call them chachkis, Jeff. But, but we get some, and I have a whole bunch over here that I should put on display of, of really meaningful things. And this is something that I've, I've had for, you know, 10, 12 years. Actually, my daughter plays with it now. She loves it because it's all these little dolls. So anyway, there's a game out right now to your point, Rebecca called stacking on Game Pass from Double Fine, where it's puzzles with stacking the individual dolls in here.

5:18.5

So it's, or not in here, but in the game. And the different characters, anytime you encounter another one of those dolls, you can take control of them, and they all have different abilities. So some are really small and they can go on. I just recall, like, going through like a scheme ship.

5:31.5

I think it took place like, you know, early 1900 something like that and had a really cool feel to it. I should go back to that. It's been a long time.

5:39.5

I'm so surprised that you still have these dolls. I mean, well, there's, it was 2011 because, because, so I'm going to, I'm going to give you guys a little insight here, you listeners. I think Jeff and Rebecca know this.

5:55.5

So as, as I said earlier, we get access to a lot of really great things. And we were fortunate to work in this industry.

6:03.5

And every once in a while, we'll get some things from the industry like, like these beautiful stacking dolls that I can tell, there was thought and care and, and, and real meaning behind what this is, it wasn't just a, hey, let's take a t-shirt and slap a logo on it.

6:19.5

I got a zillion of those. Anybody can slap a logo on a t-shirt. But this is all about the game. Hey, hey, Jeff, I'm not talking about you.

6:27.5

It's embroidered, by the way. But what I'm saying is it's not just, and, and there's actually, I will tell this other story is, I have this running joke with one of our, one of our partners here at Microsoft.

6:41.5

You know who it is, helper.

6:43.5

Yeah, it does. It does. There's a company. One of the many.

6:47.5

One of them, whoa, hello. Is that Puma? Wow, he's really bringing us a game today. But anyway, I have, I have this relationship with one of our partners here at Microsoft that makes things for us, a lot of the merchandise and different things.

7:03.5

And I always tell, tell them, don't bother me with stuff that I can see anybody's logo on. I want to see something bespoke.
