NYCCR -- MARCH 29 -- RAY SCHNEIDERS
24/2020 - MEDIA CLAIMS ANTI-ASIAN CRIMES ON THE RISE

A special message from the host and creator of The New York City Crime Report with Pat Dixon, Pat Dixon

AS YOU'RE ALL AWARE, THE CITY, STATE AND FEDERAL AUTHORITIES HAVE DEMANDED THE CLOSURE OF NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES AND PLACED RESTRICTIONS ON MOST OTHERS, WHILE INDIVIDUALS HAVE BEEN REMANDED TO HOME CONFINEMENT AND TO PRACTICE "SOCIAL DISTANCING" DURING THE BRIEF OUTDOOR EXCURSIONS WE'RE ALLOWED.

THESE SWEEPING DRACONIAN MEASURES THREATEN TO FOREVER ALTER OUR COUNTRY IN A WAY THAT NO VIRUS ALONE EVER COULD. THE PRESIDENT'S ATTEMPTS TO PROVIDE ENCOURAGEMENT TO MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC -- BY SUGGESTING THE POSSIBILITY OF A MORE OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK FOR A RETURN TO NORMALCY IN THE WEEKS TO COME -- HAVE BEEN SHOUTED DOWN, CRITICIZED AND RIDICULED BY THE MEDIA AT LARGE, AND VOCALLY DISREGARDED BY NYC MAYOR BILL DE BLASIO.

FOR HIS PART, DE BLASIO HAS MAINTAINED A SINGULARLY PETULANT TONE THROUGHOUT THE CRISIS AND HAS RENEGED ON HIS ASSURANCES OF TRANSPARENCY, REFUSING TO RELEASE STATISTICS RELATED TO THE NUMBERS OF AVAILABLE HOSPITAL BEDS AND VENTILATORS AND SEEMS TO BE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE WHETHER OR NOT AVAILABLE INFORMATION FROM THE CDC AND OTHER SOURCES IS ACCURATE.

IN THIS EPISODE AND IN DAILY EPISODES TO COME, WE'LL BE REVIEWING THESE DEVELOPMENTS, AS WELL AS PROVIDING OUR USUAL TOP-NOTCH COVERAGE OF NEW YORK CITY CRIME. IN THE INTEREST OF PROVIDING A WIDER VARIETY OF ENTERTAINMENT DURING THIS INTERESTING MOMENT, NYC CRIME REPORT WILL ALSO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL CONTENT, INCLUDING "BEST-OF" PODCASTS, PERHAPS A COUPLE OF RE-RELEASES OF CLASSIC NYCCR, THE FUNNY AND INSANE 2 WOKE 2 F AND A UNIQUE AND FUN PODCAST CALLED THE THRILL OF THE KILL WHICH I EDIT AND PRODUCE AND WOULD LOVE TO SHARE WITH ALL OF YOU.

THESE BONUS SHOWS WILL BE LABELED AS SUCH TO PREVENT ANY CONFUSION. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, THE SHOW NYC CRIME REPORT WILL CONTINUE AS USUAL, AND WHEN WE TURN A CORNER, THIS FEED WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL. IN THE MEANTIME, I HOPE YOU ENJOY THESE OTHER CREATIONS, AND STAY ALIVE NO MATTER WHAT OCCURS. I WILL FIND YOU. CrimeReport.nyc

Hey, Ray.

Hey, Pat, how are you today?

0:19.4

I'm good.

0:20.0

Have I got that right?

0:22.5

Did I get everything right on that?

0:29.9

You got everything right. Okay, cool. How's life in Fontana? Oh, well, it's a laugh a minute out here.

0:38.6

You know, I remember the first time I went out on patrol with my first training officer in Fontana. He said to me, Ray,

0:41.7

Fontana is not the end of the world, but you can see it from here.

0:50.4

Well done. The coronavirus is, it's got everybody in their homes. It's, wouldn't you call it mass house arrest, isn't it? Yeah, it's essentially what it is. And what's amazing to me

0:57.1

in watching this is, you know, it's a little on the embarrassing side, the way people are behaving.

1:03.1

You know, they always tell us that, you know, when, when nations go through these tough times,

1:08.2

that it builds character. I think, unfortunately, in this case, it's revealing it.

1:12.9

And boy, we have got a lot of milk toast Nancy boys in this country, just the way they're

1:19.3

behaving, the way they're just losing their minds.

1:23.2

And it's amazing to me how people are clearly living at the mercy of their external environment.

1:32.1

I mean, they just cannot make a decision based on the information on their own.

1:36.4

They're basically being told what to think.

1:39.3

And like robots, you know, the local news tells them, you know, how they should be reacting to this.

1:45.0

Yeah.

1:45.4

It's like they will behave just as weak as they sort of get permission to act, you know?
