We recently did a social post sharing some information on the newly announced UK VAT regulations, and Amazon claiming tax, coming into effect in 2021. Since then we've had a lot of questions on this subject such as; 'Do I no longer need to be VAT registered?', 'Will Amazon do my VAT return for me?', 'Do I no longer need to use you?'

0:26.6 | However, I think what you need to be aware of is that the way that Amazon, if you're an Amazon seller, is calculating VAT |

0:36.1 | So let me back up slightly because there's a huge amount of sellers that are VAT registered |
0:42.4 | that aren't declaring their VAT. |
0:46.1 | And because of that, what's now happening is every, |
0:50.2 | the marketplaces will now be taking your VAT for you. |
0:55.0 | So what that basically means is, is that when you sell on Amazon, |
0:59.0 | Amazon will take 20% of your sale and give that to the UK government. |
1:05.0 | All right, they essentially become the supplier, |
1:08.0 | and therefore they will now be doing that. So when you get your return from |
1:13.1 | Amazon, your costs out of there, what's going to happen is you're going to see 20% gone for VAT. |
1:18.5 | All right. And they're going to be taking that straight from the point of sale essentially. |
1:23.1 | So many of you will be very used to that, but it's a very different way of working here in the UK. |
1:28.7 | Now, the problem with that is that not everybody's |
