I'm Janley Painter and this is the Fox True Crime podcast. An update in the case of Corey Richens, who has asked the court to reconsider her bail

and the conditions of her release after a key witness changed his statements.

The 35-year-old Utah mom has been accused of murdering her husband, Eric Richens, with a

fentanyl laced drink in 2022. Prosecutors claimed that Richens purchased the drugs from her

housekeeper, who allegedly acquired them through a man named Robert Crozier.

However, her defense team claims that Crozer recanted his statement and denied giving anyone

fentanyl and that prosecutors knowingly withheld the information ahead of the trial.

Well, the trial is set to begin February 23rd, 2026. An attorney Greg Scored us is the spokesman for the Richens family. He joins me now to discuss the impact the case has had on Eric's family. I want to start with just the latest. This has been a case almost three years in the making. What is the latest as far as Corey's case, but also Eric's family?

So you actually articulated the latest with the case very well, and that is that a significant state witness has changed his testimony, and the significance of that is this, that

the medical examiner determined that the cause of death was fentanyl poisoning.

The housekeeper claims that she gave the defendant, Cory Richens, fentanyl, and that she bought it from this individual and this Mr. Crozier,

and that he has now claimed that he didn't sell her fentanyl, that he sold her oxy cotton or oxycodone,

anyway, an oxy drug, and that therefore that particular item could not have caused Eric's death.

So that's thrown a wrench in the works a little bit.

I think his credibility is at issue.

I think there are a lot of other factors that could play into this.

And in terms of the Richens family, they've been patient throughout.
