President Trump's deadline for trade deals is now just one day away. And with that, he's making some more announcements.

For starters,

he ruled out a deal with India by tomorrow and imposed higher tariffs on the country. All imports

from India now face a 25% tariff, up from the nearly 2.5% it's paid in recent years. Plus,

they'll face an extra penalty for what Trump says is an over-reliance on Russian energy and military

equipment. That's significant since companies like Apple shifted production to India to avoid high

tariffs in China. And top U.S. imports from India include not only smartphones, but also chemicals,

plastic, leather goods, agricultural products, and metals. Also yesterday, Trump made good on his threats to

apply 50% tariffs on Brazil, up from 10%. The White House also sanctions the Brazilian judge

overseeing cases involving former president Zaire Bolsonaro. He's the Brazilian right-wing

populist leader who is accused of trying to stage a coup after losing

the 2022 election. And Trump calls the legal action against him a witch hunt. So he's using both

tariffs and sanctions to apply pressure. Meanwhile, other countries are still making deals.

President Trump says South Korea agreed to a 15% tariff, just like Japan and the EU, while American imports won't face any tariffs.
