Hello my friends, welcome back to the morning mindset. I'm glad you're with me today of

all days because we're starting a new series. We're starting a brand new trek through

the scriptures so that you and I can get our minds aligned with the truth of God's word

as it's expressed in the gospel of the Apostle John. John is a master storyteller and

I think you're going to find that his descriptions and the imagery he uses really makes the

person of Jesus come alive. And speaking of storytelling, I hope you love a good story.

for this episode of the podcast. Okay, well, as we get started in the gospel of John,

I feel like it's important that we understand what we're dealing with when we come to a

book like John's gospel. Now, first off, the word gospel is used in a couple of different

ways throughout the scripture. But first of all, it is the word that means good news in the Greek

language. So when we speak of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we're talking about the good news,

having to do with Jesus. But the word is also used in referring to the first four books of the

New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And they're called gospels because each of them is

an account of Jesus life told from the perspective of its author. Now this gospel, we're going to be

looking at the gospel of John. John, the one who wrote this was one of Jesus 12 disciples. He was

the brother of James. He was a friend of Simon Peter and his brother Andrew. And he by vocation

was a fisherman. So John was a blue collar guy like most of us, but he was very deep. You'll

find out as we go through even the first few verses of John chapter 1 tomorrow, just how deep he is.
