Vanessa, hello.

0:29.5

Hello, how are you?

0:31.4

I'm okay.

0:32.7

How are you?

0:33.8

Well, you know, dealing with a minor powder outage in my building, but it's fine. We're back, and here we are, doing the things. That's true. And I read another quarter of one of the books that I was going to discuss while I was waiting, so. You're welcome. Not really. But that's great to hear. I can't believe it's June. This, like, threw me off. I was looking at our agenda. Like, oh, yeah, that says June on it. Great. That's a huge, huge new book day. I know. I ended up only picking six because I couldn't narrow it down and thought of any way. It is a big book day, and it'll, we'll talk about as many of them today as we can. Yeah. Well, what are you reading right now? I'm reading a whole bunch of not new stuff, which is the thing I've been trying to do more of. Reading three different things right now. The first one I'm reading is Murder by Memory by Olivia Wait, which I'm sure we've talked about on the show at some way. Yeah, right? Yeah. So it's the first in a kind of cozy sci-fi series that takes place for a very, like, fancy,

luxurious spaceship where your mind can easily be transferred to a new body whenever you're ready

1:39.1

for that. All the minds are stored in this, like, fancy library, and the conceit of the whole thing is that this woman named Dorothy Gentleman wakes up. She's a detective on the ship, and she realizes that she is in a body that she does not remember inhabiting, and also a murder has just happened. And so we find out that somebody has been systemically, it looks like, killing people, which normally, again, your mind would survive, except they're also deleting

the minds from the library. It's the first of, I think, three. I want to say the last of the

2:07.1

novellas, the third one is due sometime next year, but they're really cute and quippy and fun,

2:12.6

and I'm having a good time with that. The second book I'm reading is trespasses by Louise Kennedy,

2:17.3

which is a book

2:17.9

that's sort of been on my radar for a long time. And it kind of got bumped up in the stack

2:22.4

because I saw that Lola Pettacru, who is the actor that I loved from the Hulu adaptation of Patrick

2:28.5

Radden-Keefe's Say Nothing. They just starred in what is apparently a really, really great adaptation

2:33.5

of this book.

2:38.6

So it's set in Northern Ireland and Belfast during the Troubles. Apparently this is the theme and things that I enjoy. It's about a Catholic woman who teaches at a school during the day. She

moonlights at her family's pub at night and that's where she meets at the pub, this Protestant

2:47.7

barrister who has made a name for himself working on IRA member cases,

like defending the IRA members.
