The closing argument for Democrats nationally has been that Republicans want to end

0:12.4

insurance mandates that are meant

0:13.9

to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions. The trouble with the

0:18.0

polling in that area is that they focus almost exclusively on benefits and not costs. A new poll from the Cato Institute

0:24.8

takes a more balanced approach. Emily Eekin's comments. What brought about this

1:38.4

pre-existing condition protections. And I have a quick quote here. They say, who says Americans are

1:44.8

hopelessly divided over political issues on one vital subject the

1:48.7

2018 campaign has revealed a consensus that is both broad and deep.

1:54.0

The people want government to require that health insurers cover everyone regardless of

1:59.4

pre-existing medical conditions, period. So those are the pre-existing medical conditions period.
