0:33.4	It is July 31st and we've got new ones from Dominique Fike, Alannus Morissette, a whole bunch more.
0:39.4	But we start with Brandy. Her latest is called B7.
1:29.2	This is Brandy. The singer Brandy. Her new one is called B7. The song we're listening to is called Say Something.
1:58.3	And NPR Music's Bobby Carter here for this one. Hey Bobby. What's up, Robin?
2:03.0	Loving this record from Brandy. Her first in eight years.
2:07.7	And she has done a lot of soul searching and self-care and personal reckoning during that time.
2:15.7	She lays it all out here. She really does, man. I think this is by far her most sincere and vulnerable
2:23.2	and brave album that she's put out since probably ever.
2:27.2	She goes from being this massive pop star in the 90s when she was just a teenager.

2:33.0	And from everything I read, it's basically the pressure really got to her.
2:37.2	And so on this record she sings about being medicated and feeling like she's going crazy.

2:46.4	Like you said, Robin, she came into the music industry as a teenager.
2:50.6	So I'm sure she had writers writing songs for her.
2:54.0	And she was just growing up in the industry.
2:56.4	So we were for a while, we just didn't really get to know who she was as a woman until now.
