held a faintly sweet odor. Outside the Venetian blinds, which were not quite closed, you saw the restless shifting presence as snow past street

lights. For the first time, Hargraves hesitated.

Hargrave's companion nodded.

No, said Hargraves and smiled, I'm not trying to invoke illusions.

On the contrary, I'm trying to dispel them.
