with a song from Peter Gabriel's first album of all new material in 20 years.

That album will come out sometime in 2023. It's called I-O. That's I-S-L-L-L-L-O like

input output. Peter Gabriel released the first song from this album on the first full moon of 2023

with future songs coming on subsequent full moons. The song was called Panopta-Kam. The title

is played on the word Panopta-Kam, which I had a look up. The definition says it's a circular

prison with cells arranged around a central well from which prisoners could at all times be observed.

So here's Peter Gabriel to further explain. Hi there. Welcome to I-O. The first song is going to be

Panopta-Kam. Some of what I'm writing about this time is the idea that the planet that gave us

birth where you seem incredibly capable of destroying. And there is an idea that unless we find

ways to reconnect ourselves to nature to the natural world, we're going to lose a lot including

sort of biodiversity, climate change, all the stuff you've heard about. Panopta-Kam began

in two directions simultaneously musically with this sort of bazooki sound that I was playing

around with with a repeated side stick. And then there was an idea of well it's a giant globe

that collects an assembles data. This globe could be something that is building but it's got the

sum total of human experience for anyone who cares to upload it. My dream would be that it is

a giant physical thing that holds all this data. A big dream but that was the idea behind

Panopta-Kam.
