Mayo, you posted a picture on Twitter this morning. It was a screenshot of your lock screen. You were showing an adaptive power notification that you got on your iPhone air. I've been getting these now every day. See, I never got them. I got them every day for like a week and now I haven't gotten one in like another week. I don't understand. Yeah, I didn't get them the entire September. I put 26.1 beta on the air, and now I get them every day.

0:22.8

And I don't know when they're supposed to kick in or what is supposed to do, because it's very nebulous.

0:27.1

But, like, my phone's on, you know, 70% battery.

0:29.5

It's only midday.

0:30.9

Adaptive power iPhone is adjusted performance to help but extend your battery life.

0:34.3

And whether that notification was visible now on the screen or not, I would not be the

0:39.0

wiser. The phone performs identically. Yeah, perceptively. Like, I'm sure if you did a benchmark,

0:44.2

maybe it's slightly lower, but for any, all intents and purposes of me using the phone,

0:49.5

nothing has changed. And obviously, the reason the adaptive power notifications are on by default is because it all harkens back to the paranoia of battery-related throttling, right?

1:00.7

And, you know, Apple went to court over it in 2018 on all that stuff when I think we can all kind of agree that at a technical level they were doing the right thing, but the communication was not the best,

1:12.1

and so it got a lot of people mad,

1:13.6

and it fueled the conspiracy theories.

1:15.4

So now anything they do related to battery management,

1:18.3

whether it's the optimized charging or anything else,

1:21.4

they always have to put a little like notifications

1:23.0

and status symbols to make sure customers aren't going to start a new class action also over it.

1:29.1

So on this one, adaptive power is on by default on the iPhone air, but there is a setting to turn off

1:36.8

adaptive power together and turn off just the notifications. So I can turn off the notifications

1:41.8

and I don't get annoyed with a daily alert that is literally

1:44.4

meaningless.

1:45.6

I don't really see the need to turn off adaptive power altogether because if it's given me

1:50.8

a little battery boost, great because I literally don't notice it.
