this Easter season we've had the enormous privilege of reading from the book

of Revelation. Of course the final book of the Bible, the place where the entire

scriptural story comes to its climax. Can I ask everybody sometime during the

Easter season? So this week, next couple weeks, can I urge you to read the book

of Revelation? Read it, front to back. It wouldn't take you that long. And then you

know if you can even go on the web and look for a good commentary on it. It's a

book that a lot of our Protestant friends know pretty well and we don't know, we

Catholics don't know as well, but we should because as I say the whole story in

some ways comes to its climax, its fulfillment here. Well the passage for this

Sunday is taken from the 21st chapter, which is the penultimate chapter of the

book. There's a kind of Day Ngu Ma in chapter 22, but chapter 21, so we're at the

very end of the whole Bible, represents this fulfillment of the story. It's the

ringing finale of the entire Bible, the terminus adquem if I can use my old

philosophical language of all of scripture. So my point here is we need to pay
