Summary

A big Halloween party at an apartment complex in Redmond, Washington. Themed rooms and costumed partygoers. But by the end of the party, one of the hosts is dead. The police look to the partiers as the prime suspects: was it the guy in the devil mask, the bank robber, the construction worker? As investigators comb through forensic evidence, witness testimony, DNA, and even consult with a psychic, they zero in on one suspect in particular. But for what reason? Host and reporter Matthew Shaer (Over My Dead Body) returns to the scene of the crime, speaks with everyone about a night that still haunts them years later. 0:06.1	Wondry and campside media that we are so excited to talk to you about. We are about to get hooked on it.
0:13.2	Like I've already subscribed and ready to get hooked. I haven't even listened yet. I'm already hooked.
0:17.5	So excited. That's how good it is. It's called suspect. Sorry, not a whisper word, suspect.
0:23.6	It starts in October 2008. The residents of a Redmond apartment complex are throwing a big Halloween party.
0:31.6	Dozens of people in costumes mingling, drinking and dancing. But after the party started to quiet down,
0:37.7	one of them was murdered in her home. This sounds a lot like that date line, but I know it's different.
0:43.2	That date line we did about the Halloween party and everyone's in costume. I love this stuff.
0:47.9	The police spent weeks teasing together the night with hazy recollections, spotty DNA evidence and dozens of party photos.
0:56.8	Eventually they had a suspect. His story kept changing. His DNA was at the crime scene.
1:02.4	And when he finally came in for questioning, the detectives felt like they were a breath away from a confession that didn't happen.
1:08.8	So then they decided to focus their attention on another man, a man with a criminal record whose DNA was also found at the crime scene.
1:17.1	And he just so happened to be the only black man at the party. No, thank you. I'm upset already.
