Officials in Texas say around 100 people have died in the devastating floods in the central parts of the state, and rescuers are still searching for around 2 dozen people missing.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt told reporters that President Donald Trump will visit

the area this week, possibly

Friday.

Levit also criticized Democrats who she said were blaming Trump for the floods.

Unfortunately, in the wake of this once-in-a-generation natural disaster, we have seen many

falsehoods pushed by Democrats such as Senator Chuck Schumer and some members of the media.

Blaming President Trump for these floods is a depraved lie, and it serves no purpose during

this time of national mourning.

Schumer had sent a letter to Acting Commerce Department Inspector General Roderick

Anderson, calling for an investigation into whether staffing shortages

at the National Weather Service contributed to deaths during the flooding.

That's according to the letter obtained by Politico.

CNN has reached out to Schumer's office for comment.

When asked by CNN, if Trump may reconsider his plans to phase out the Federal Emergency

Management Agency, Levitt said this.
