We recorded today's show on Wednesday afternoon before the Jim Harbaugh news broke.

So we're going to talk with Daniel Dobb about the Lions and everything that's gone on with them over the past couple years.

I think a really fun, really thoughtful conversation that applies to a lot of teams towards the bottom of the league. But first, wanted to break in and have a quick chat about the

Jim Harbaugh hire in Los Angeles for the Chargers. And I love this move. I'll be up front.

Harbaugh, I just look back at how highly regarded he was at his peak in San Francisco.

This was a guy who I believed when there were rumors of him getting linked to the Cleveland Browns via trade before his final season with the team, he was making $5 million a year, which was a decade ago.

So money was not what it is now.

But I thought he was worth two first round picks via trade.

I thought he was worth basically franchise quarterback or young superstar Jalen Ramsey,

Khalil Mack-esque trade value for Jim Harbaugh, given how significant he had been in turning

around the 49ers. And I just want to start by kind of going back to where things were

with the Niners because Jim Harbauss

turned around colleges.

He turned around Michigan, which had a losing record before he got there.

He turned around Stanford, which was 1 and 11, left them after four years at 12 and 1.

He turned around the University of San Diego, his first head coaching job that had never had a 10-win season,

and he had two in his three seasons with the University of San Diego, his first head coaching job that had never had a 10-win season, and he had two in his three seasons with the University of San Diego.

What's most impressive to me, though, is what he did in San Francisco. So they were basically a mess for a decade after the, you know, kind of the fruit of the Bill Walsh tree had had you know not gone ripe whatever the opposite of ripe is they'd gone sour i suppose after

uh cap concerns they lose steams muriucci a lot of the players leave they're a mess for a decade

dennis ericsson struggles mike nolan struggles mike singletary struggles and i want to remind you of what the 2010 season was like the year before Harbaugh got there.
