The Labor Department's producer price index, tracking wholesale prices, fell one-tenth percent in December. It's the third straight month of declines,

including a steep drop in the cost of diesel fuel.

Movement in wholesale prices can signal where consumer prices are headed.

The Biden administration is moving up the start of

student loan cancellations for borrowers enrolled in a new repayment plan. They'll start next

month. The cancellations target those who borrowed 12,000 dollars or less and made at least 10 years of payments.

This is expected to help low-income borrowers more, many of whom may not have finished college or attended community college.

The Federal Aviation Administration is stepping up its oversight of Boeing after the accident

last week on an Alaska Airlines flight.

The agency says it will audit Boeing's 737 Max9 production line and is considering installing

independent oversight to oversee Boeing's inspection and quality control systems.
