from writing for decoding the unknown is that this was entirely by design. As you're all

aware, in the summer of 1947, an object crashed on a farm outside

Roswell in New Mexico.

That object was recovered by the US Army Air Forces, who issued a press release stating

that they recovered a flying disc that had crashed on the farm the next day.

They released a new press statement saying, just a joke.

It was a balloon.

This was a calculated decision made by the military, because while

the object was in fact a balloon, it was not a weather balloon, at least not entirely. The
