What are the bears getting in Kobe Bryant?

Guys are getting a hell of a player, man.

You guys are getting a player that nobody wanted to see leave.

They got a group of free agents and we were debating every day who's staying, who's going, who do you want to stay, who do you hope they retain, who are you okay with leaving? And there was kind of a consensus. Like, all right, yeah, Ken Walker may leave, and Tariq Wollum may leave, and boy, Maffay and all these other players may leave, but do, you can to keep Kobe Bryant. And unfortunately, he's going to Chicago. Yeah, I mean, I guess that great. You like that? Yeah, that's exciting. No doubt about it. I mean, obviously, this defense showed its worth, you know, throughout the regular season and all the way to a Super Bowl. and so I'm just curious, you know, when did it, when do you feel like it turned the corner

for him to where he went from, you know, a solid player to this elite level talent that

obviously you guys are going to miss now?

I would say last year, because he had dealt with some injuries and in Pete Carroll system,

it didn't quite suit him.

I mean, he's a guy who was a tremendous cornerback at the college level.

I think he was like three-time, all big 12.

He won the Doak Walker Award.

He was a tremendous corner.

And then he started playing more safety out here. And then that

transition was a little bit slow. And then when Mike McDonald came in, it just seemed to suit him.

That defense just seemed to suit him. And he was playing free and easy. And he's an incredibly

physical player. He's a guy who can still play corner. He can play safety. He's really versatile.
