It's the media buzz meter with Howard Kurtz.

I want to start with an absolute mess at the New York Times.

The paper which dismantled its own sports desk created this unit called The Athletic,

which it owns and they can charge an extra fee.

And the reporting and writing

is very good. But a reporter for The Athletic has resigned, I would say, told to resign or be let go.

After these photos of her and New England coach Mike Vrable were published where they're sitting in a hot tub

holding hands hugging, lounging by the hotel pool, both married. And they said, no, no, no,

it was no affair. They arrived separately at the hotel and they didn't see anybody around them at times the

photos were taken. What is it, by the way, with these people who take pictures, don't they understand

the way the interwebs work anyway? It's embarrassing. And at first, the Times and the athletic sided

with Rousini, saying, well, you know, this media frenzy,

it's really kind of out of control and nothing really to see here.

But now she's been bounced out of there.

And I stand behind every story I've ever published. When

page six item appeared in The New York Post, the Athletics supported me unequivocally, expressed

confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful in the days that followed,

unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation and

simply unmoored from the facts.

And she sent this letter to the editor of the Atlantic.
