Hello, this is Alan Parry with Gary Neville here at St. James' Park, where we have just seen a remarkable 1-0 victory for the home side against Manchester United.

Well, let's talk about Newcastle first then. They have been in a real battle in recent weeks to avoid being relegated just 12 months after winning promotion.

What kind of a boost will this unexpected victory give them?

Well, that's absolutely huge, huge three points for Newcastle United.

Going into the game there was pressure, but the pressure increased by the fact that Huddersfield beat Bournemouth and pushed them into the bottom three.

They'll have been aware of that.

Those Newcastle players, yet they responded brilliantly.

And the tactic, to be fair, they started the game quickly.

Manish United responded a little bit, but was to stay in the game, keep the crowd involved.

I have to say, once they got the goal, they played their best stuff. They really did.

fantastic all the way through they were resilient they worked hard they're in

good shape and I said once he scored the first goal Raffa Menitez is a master of being able to see out a game.

I thought his team,

normally when you see a team at the bottom of the league,

when they're beating one of the big sides,

he started to panic, they start to kick the ball forward,

they start to do rash things.

The composure that they showed actually

when they won the ball back and played through midfield was really, really good. And like I say, they did manage the game well. Manchester United at the few moments, Marcyt had a couple of chances. But you cannot take anything away from Newcastle to play under that pressure, to go into the bottom three. Having, like I say, seen that Huddersfield won was a brilliant, brilliant day for them. Now there are defining moments for every team in every season.
