Good morning everybody.

This is Jefferson Smith sitting in for Tom.

As you probably already have heard,

or may already have heard, the state of Alabama has voted now for the most extreme

anti-abortion law in the nation.

There is no exception in this law for rape or incest or death of the mother or life of the mother

There are two intentions of this law one One is its stated intent. The second is not only its impact in Alabama, but the

impact it could have in the United States of America. During this portion we're going to talk

about the reminder of why it mattered so very much that a Supreme Court seat was stolen.

We're going to connect this to what's happening in the media. I want

us to remember the essential arguments about why a woman's right to choose was so important in the first instance.

Why Roe versus Wade was so important in the first instance.

I worry that this is a generation that knew not Joseph.

I worry that we have forgotten a critical debate in the country and some of the most important

elements of that debate, including an era of back- alleyley abortions, significant risks to health and safety for women,

subjugation of women, if we actually want full agency and full power for all human beings in our country,

how this relates to that. And I worry that if we take for granted some of those arguments,

if we think that all the threat... take for granted some of those arguments.

If we think that all the threat,

it's something that they talk about only on talk radio.

It's not really gonna happen in governance.
