Summary

Tonight's guest, Dean Gleason, is the executive director of Seaway Valley Bigfoot Research, which is based in Northern New York State, right on the Canadian border. Dean has had 5 Sasquatch sightings. His 1st Bigfoot-related experience happened when he was in junior high school. You see, up until he was that age, his father handled all of the trapping that fed his family. Dean always found it strange that his father refused to go into a particular area, by a creek that was close to their home. His father never told him why he avoided that area, he just did. He also told Dean never to go into that area. Well, when Dean was old enough to start attending junior high, his dad handed the trapping duties over to Dean. Feeling his oats, Dean figured that there wasn't anything in the area that he couldn't handle, so he decided to set traps in the forbidden area his dad told him to avoid. When Dean was walking in to check the traps he had left in that area 1 day, he got the surprise of his life. As he was walking up to one of the traps he had left next to the creek, he could hear a commotion. Something was caught in the trap...

0:08.1	We're located in Northern New York State right on the Canadian border.
0:13.3	Our name comes from the St. Lawrence River, which is considered the Seaway where a lot
0:18.3	of shipping goes from the Great Lakes out to the ocean and back the other way.
0:22.9	So that's where we came up with the name.
0:25.9	We mostly do our investigations and follow-up in this area, but we will travel to other
0:31.7	areas to follow-up on big-foot sightings and other evidence that might be found, tracks.
0:38.2	We went after, you know, some fecal matter that has been found in several places and
0:44.2	checked that out, tracks, sounds, all kinds of things.
0:48.2	We went on investigations to follow-up on eyewitness reports and the evidence that was
0:53.4	found by them and sometimes found by myself.
0:58.2	My first big-foot experience happened when I was in junior high and high school.
1:04.0	I used to do a lot of trapping and hunting with my grandfather, who was one of the greatest
1:09.9	outdoorsmen that I've ever met in my life that wasn't anything he didn't know about hunting
1:14.1	and fishing and he taught me as much as he possibly could.
1:18.7	We had a lot of great experiences together during the time that I trapped with him on our
1:24.1	farm that we lived on.
1:26.6	There was one part of the creek that he would not trappin' and I always wondered why I asked
1:32.5	him a couple of times and he never gave me a straight answer to this day.
1:37.5	I don't know for sure whether my grandfather had a big-foot of experience of his own.
1:42.6	Unfortunately, he is not with us anymore so I have no way of going back and asking him
1:48.1	but he did live a good life.
