The gallbladder is a small sac that sits below the liver with the following important functions:
•Bile storage and concentration
•Regulation of bile release
•Cholesterol regulation
•Antimicrobial functions
•Hunger and blood sugar control
•Detox support
•Helps trigger the antioxidant glutathione
Bile is vital for the breakdown of fats, so you can absorb fat-soluble vitamins A, E, D, K1, K2, and omega-3 fatty acids. Bile can also help thyroid hormones work more efficiently.
Gallbladder removal surgery is often the result of gallbladder stones. Gallstones come from a lack of bile.
People are often told the following lies and convinced into gallbladder removal surgery:
•There are no other options.
•A diseased gallbladder causes gallstones.
•You can’t prevent gallstones with diet.
•Gallbladder removal does not cause complications.
•Post-cholecystectomy is controversial.
•Gallstones that result from pregnancy require gallbladder removal surgery.
Gallstones can be caused by high levels of estrogen, being overweight, and diabetes, but one of the biggest gallbladder stone causes is high insulin!
Insulin resistance resulting from chronically high insulin levels can prevent the liver from producing adequate bile and weaken the gallbladder. A low-carb diet and intermittent fasting are the best solutions for gallbladder stones.
Your microbes also produce bile, so anything that destroys them can affect bile. Antibiotics and low-fat, low-cholesterol diets increase the risk for gallstones.
Fatty fish has the most potent effect on bile production. You can also increase bile with cholesterol foods such as butter, eggs, shellfish, seafood, and liver. Egg yolks and liver are high in choline, a key nutrient vital for bile production. Bitter greens, arugula, radish, celery, and sauerkraut can help make additional bile salts.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. | 0:00.0 | In this video, we're going to talk about why you should never get your gallbladder removed |
| 0:05.0 | unless you absolutely positively need to. Today I'm going to talk about six lies that the surgeons |
| 0:11.2 | will tell you that you need to know the truth about. I'm also going to get into the best foods to |
| 0:15.8 | consume if you have a gallbladder problem. Gallbladder removal is one of the most common surgeries done, especially in the U.S. |
| 0:23.8 | And I think, if I'm not mistaken, there's over 3,000 gallbladder removal surgeries every single day in the United States. |
| 0:30.9 | What is the gallbladder and what does it do? |
| 0:33.4 | Is it just this little sack that sits underneath your liver that stores bile? |
| 0:40.3 | And the answer is no. It has a lot of important functions. |
| 0:43.3 | First of all, the bile is made by the liver, and then it trickles down a little tube, |
| 0:49.3 | and it gets stored in this little sack called the gallbladder. |
| 0:53.3 | Okay, so number one, the gallbladder is a |
| 0:56.2 | storage of bile, okay? And it's a place where bile gets concentrated. Why do you need it to be |
| 1:02.6 | concentrated? Well, because when you eat food, the gallbladder is supposed to contract and |
| 1:09.2 | release all this bile to help you break down fats. |
| 1:12.8 | Then the pancreas right here can release its enzymes to take it to the next level. |
| 1:20.4 | And I'm not just talking about fat. I'm talking about the fat-siable vitamins, vitamin A, D, E, K1, K2. |
| 1:27.7 | I'm also talking about omega-3 fatty acids. To be able to extract any of that from your food, you're going to need bile. And that's one of the purposes of the gallbladder to concentrate it. If you don't have a gallbladder, your liver still makes it, but there's no storage. It just trickles down this little tube into the small intestine. |
| 1:44.4 | So number one, that's going to be an issue with your digestion and your ability to get |
| 1:48.8 | these important fats. |
| 1:51.0 | The second purpose of the gallbladder is it helps you regulate the bile release. |
| 1:55.6 | So that way, you're getting bio when you need it and not getting bio when you don't need |
| 2:00.0 | it. The third thing that the gallbladder does is help you |
