On January 4th, 2017 at an intersection near the Strip in Las Vegas, the body of Daniel Aldape was discovered.

He was 46 and unhoused, and he had been bludgeoned in the head at least four times.

He was still wrapped in blankets, so it was pretty likely that he was sleeping during the time of the attack.

Well, that's the good, at least.

A month later, 60-year-old David Dunn was found dead of head trauma at the exact same

intersection.

What are the odds of that?

Two men unhoused bludgeon to death at the same intersection.

Yeah.

So, of course, police were wondering if these two murders could somehow be connected.

Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for crime and violence to happen against the unhoused.

There were 27 fatal attacks on homeless individuals in 2015 in the U.S., according to the National

Coalition for the Homeless, which also documented a total of 1,650 acts of violence against

homeless individuals by housed perpetrators between 1995 and 2015.

Why?

Largely committed by men in their teens and 20s.
