Good afternoon, everyone. It's Dr. Niagara again with our next episode of Psychology Unplugged.

I'm really enjoying this experience, interacting with a lot of you guys and responding to your questions.

So today's topic, my wife kind of brought this up and she said,

you ever going to do a topic on what you do every day?

I was like, huh.

Yeah, maybe I should do that, which we're going to talk today about neuropsychological evaluations.

Okay. What is a neuropsychological evaluations. Okay.

What is a neuropsychiavall?

It's the mechanism by which we are able to accurately diagnose psychiatric conditions and neurocognitive and neurodevelopmental disorders.

So I've said this before.

I think my perspective is therapy and medications without a full neuropsychie valve

is akin to having surgery without an x-ray.

It's not that people can't do treatment.

It's just a neuropsychiavall is several hours and tons and tons of data that is able to delineate with specificity,

how someone's symptomatology, psychiatric or neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental,

manifest idiosyncratic to that person.

And like I said, I don't do much therapy anymore, but I can tell you, I could have be seeing somebody for two or three years

and without having information from the Rorschach or the MMPI or the Femannick app reception test

there is no way I would ever know the true psychological constitution of the person sitting across from me.

All right. So what is this process?

It's predicated on a structured diagnostic clinical interview.
