of the latest season of Land of the Giants,

why did you decide to dedicate an entire season of that

podcast to Netflix? Why wouldn't you want to spend all your time thinking and

talk? You're already consuming Netflix constantly, daily, many times a day if you're me, why wouldn't you want to

know more about the people who bring that to you and why they brought it to you and the

challenges they're facing and how they nearly even got squashed by competitors several

times. I think it's fascinating.

All right, so last time we spoke we talked about how the pandemic had been a huge windfall

for Netflix. What did you learn about how Netflix was made for this moment?

They weren't set out to build a company that would withstand a pandemic.

Really? That's surprising to me.

But at the very beginning the company Reed

Hastings the co-founder and the current CEO was telling everyone that even though

this was a DVD by mail service and they were taking actual desks and putting

them envelopes mailing them to you and really wasn't an internet company at all.

It was just a website where you could go order these disks.

That one day he was going to make this into a streaming video service and you would be getting his movies and TV shows over the
