I'm Pastor Mike Winger and this is Bible Thinker the program dedicated to thinking

biblically about everything.

Man we've covered so many topics throughout this and we're just going to continue doing that,

taking things topically, as well as going verse by verse, kind of doing a combination of those two,

different things. But here we are, I'm just going to back up a little bit into verse 15 of 1st

Peter chapter 3 verse 15. It says, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

And that is gold. I mean this is like this is is the Christian not just the

apologist but the Christians blueprint for be ready sanctify God as the Lord man

I'm obedient to him only, above all else. I also want to have a reason

for the hope that is in me. I may not answer every question, but I've got reason for the hope

that's in me, you know. And also to have meekness and fear so I don't become that arrogant know at all

Christian now it's fine if you know at all maybe you're just one of those

jeopardy winners you know who just happens to know just about everything but it's the arrogance that goes that's you don't

want to couple with it that's the thing well verse 16 then moves forward and says

this having a good conscience that when they defame you as evil doers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.

Now this phrase, a good conscience, I think is really neat and completely misunderstood most of the

time because let's be honest you read oh I have a good conscience and you're like I

don't even know what that means you know You have to stop and think and go, what is a good conscience

anyways and is a good conscience really enough for a person to have? I have a good conscience.

So even if others don't like me or whatever, my

conscience is clear. I have a good conscience. What does that mean? Does it mean as long as I don't

feel guilty, everything's probably fine? Something sounds a little bit off about that, right? But that is
