sense of what's going on in this book to appreciate what we're about to spend a lot

of time on which is Nehemiah. They really are not, it's not even a prequel, they're really the same book effectively.

And as I've been sitting here looking at it, the first half of Ezra, which is the story of the rebuilding of the temple, is super, super satisfying to a modern brain because the plot just rolls along the way you and I would expect a plot to work.
