Summary

This week on the Active Self Protection Podcast we sit down with United States Army Officer Eric and discuss the day he found himself detained and under investigation for a negligent discharge at his residence on base. Then we sit down with investigative reporter Stephen Gutowski of thereload.com and discuss the refusal of many county sheriffs in Illinois to enforce the new anti-gun laws there.

Active Self Protection exists to help good, sane, sober, moral, prudent people in all walks of life to more effectively protect themselves and their loved ones from criminal violence. On the ASP Podcast you will hear the true stories of life or death self defense encounters from the men and women that lived them. If you are interested in the Second Amendment, self defense and defensive firearms use, martial arts or the use of less lethal tools used in the real world to defend life and family, you will find this show riveting.  Join host and career federal agent Mike Willever and the rest of the ASP staff as they talk to real life survivors and hear their stories in depth. You'll hear about these incidents and the self defenders from well before the encounter occurred on through the legal and emotional aftermath. Music: bensound.com

We've seen it work. Our actual employees have had to use it in the field against a crazy person, and it worked. They've removed any excuse not to carry OC. This is going to solve far more problems, more frequently than a firearm, and I wouldn't leave the house without it. As I've said before, I got one for my wife. I got one

You're asking, Mike, you have a lot of new friends. Yes, I do. I consider everyone on my guest to be a friend once we've gotten to know each other on the show. My new friend's name is Eric. He is married with no children. He is an lieutenant colonel in the National Guard, Army National Guard. He was active duty for nine years and Guard for almost eight. And he is just back, fresh back from a a nine month deployment in the Middle East. Eric, how are you? I'm great. How are you? I'm doing well. Again, this is a great lesson. I know that already. I haven't heard the whole story. He emailed me and gave me some of the important details and I already know it's a good lesson. It's one of those things.
