Summary

Is America actually being governed by the people, as it was originally set up to do?  Are the citizens truly participating in a representative democracy?  Author Ned Ryun says, “No.”. Agencies — like the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Education Agency, etc — are running the show.  Unelected elitists believe they know what’s best for everyone, and they decide how legislation is written and implemented.  Donald Trump is a threat to this “administrative state,” and that’s why he is feared.  He will interrupt the status quo.  But is that a bad thing?

He's written a number of books, but this one, American Leviathan, is very important. Let me give you a sense of it in this paragraph. But what is the right size and scope of government for us today? Not for anywhere except the United States. That's the real question and one that needs to be fleshed out,

1:15.2

starting from the notions that government should be limited in size and scope, that those unelected bureaucrats who staff the government are actually beneath and accountable

to the people's duly elected representatives, that those representatives delegated authority

by the American people
