trophy. This game was silly for many reasons. Calgary's just not very good, and the Aves are, in fact,

very good. Nathan McKinnon phoned it in for half this game, and in the other half of the game,

he just completely dominated Calgary, having a three-point night. That isn't to say the Aves played their A-game by any stress, certainly not for the game, he just completely dominated Calgary, having a three-point night.

portions of this game, and they also had issues finishing like they often do in the early

portions. And we'll get to the end of the game when we get there. But the first period was,

at least competitive. The abs were out-playing Calgary in the period, but not by a wide margin. In fact, the only goal of the first period comes late for the abs on the power play, which I think is probably a good thing. The abs proving they can score on that. Let me show it to you. Avs win the opening face-off to this power play and keep an eye on Landisog as he moves this puck back to Taves. He immediately circles around, finds the loose space out high, and keeps his feet moving all the way to the back post as the abs work it through Natchez and McKinnon as they love to do on their power play. And everyone just kind of puck watches. Ignores Landisog entirely, so as this puck comes down to McKinnon, look at the space Landisog has on the backdoor of this play.

Really smart, really good movement from him.

McKinnon is able to slide the puck through and someone finally finishes on the backdoor.

Not going to overanalyze it because I think when the abs are healthy, Landis is probably not on PowerPlay 1 still.

But you love that they made another backdoor play work and you love the put-together play that they can show against a team that maybe isn't elite on the penalty kill. And by maybe, I mean definitely. And the abs win a period that they are supposed to win, but it's a good showing that even when things maybe aren't going in the net for them, they're able to work through it. Now, in the second period, the Aves did, in fact, dominate, just definitively better than Calgary and Egbury Fasset of the game, outshuting them 20 to 9 in the period. The Aves would only score one goal in that time, but boy, was it pretty. Avs top line going to work, they do a lot of good stuff behind the goal line lately in the second half of this season really so it's fun to watch them work there natius really good

Nace's really good usage of his feet here. He's down below the goal line. He comes all the way up to the blue line. He works his way back. You're really stressing defenses when you're moving that much with the puck. Ultimately, Nate just feeds it to McKinnon, and it's a little bit of a give-and-go go play as he just takes off towards the net and Nathan McKinnon puts a fantastic pass into Natchez here.

It's still a tough spot. This pass gets through, but Natchez is being collapsed on multiple sticks, lots of action and he finds a way to get through it all, find the space, and then instead of panicking and trying to throw a puck five hole,

he shows the patience to hold it, go all the way across, let Dustin Wolf panic, and then finish up high.

At this point, Marty Natchez is making the abs look really smart,

whether you're talking about the trade or the contract.

On a per game basis, Natchez has outproduced Ranton in this year,

significantly so at 5 on 5.

He's been a significantly more effective goal score.
