We start today in our health lead and the fight over access to abortion front and center.

The state legislatures are cracking down on abortion access, Democrats in two separate

states controlled by Republicans fought back.

And in one case, Republicans stepped into help.

In Nebraska, Democrats cheered after blocking a bill that would have restricted abortion

after six weeks of pregnancy.

The bill fell just one vote shy of passing when two Republicans refrain from voting.

And in South Carolina, a dramatic showdown on the state senate floor after five women,

including three Republicans, blocked a vote on a bill that would have banned most abortions
