| 0:49.5 | And these helmets were mainly for abrasion protection, right? They didn't really help you in the event of a crash. |

| 1:33.9 | Well, yeah, it actually took an independent organization to do that, and that was the Snell Foundation. |
| 1:39.5 | So I believe it was 1970. This was an independent nonprofit organization that test helmets. They started testing the bicycle |
| 1:46.3 | helmets that were available on the market, and they found pretty much all of them to be next to |
| 1:50.6 | useless. Right. So then shortly thereafter, a couple of companies, MSR and Bell, which is a familiar |
| 1:59.0 | name to most mountain bikers, started making helmets out of polystyrene. |
