I'm talking to Zach about his near-death experience. At 14, Zach was diagnosed with leukemia. He sustained several small fractures in his

spine while in hospital, and doctors arranged for him to be fitted with a back brace for support.

Minutes after the back brace had been fitted, he collapsed in a parking lot. And so later,

we hear from Fran Bailey about her near-death experience.

Hi, Zach, thanks a lot for coming on the podcast.

Thank you so much for having me, Simon.

So we're going to be talking about your near-death experience and other things that you've experienced.

But first of all, can you tell us how it came to be that you

had a near-death experience? You had leukemia at 14 years old. Is that right? Yes, I was diagnosed

with leukemia at 14 years old, and I had spent the initial protocol of the leukemia was to spend a month in the hospital

to receive the chemotherapy and the associated treatments with it.

And so I got out of the hospital after a month, got a blood clot in the catheter that

was running up my jugular and subclavian vein that was acting as a permanent

IV called a Broviac catheter. And that, so I had to go back to the hospital about two days later,

or three days later, and I spent another six weeks in the hospital because I had an infection

on the catheter, had an angioplasty, and had that

catheter removed. So I had spent pretty much 10 weeks in the hospital, and by that time, my body
