Hello, I hope you are well, recently the podcast Plan de contingencia,

made several episodes such as a series of articles, 1970, a decade of violence,

where, through various interviews, the political discussions were discussed,

which made the decade of 1970 one of the most violent in our modern history.

In this series, it is talked about violence by the state and the contundents' answers by the movement of resistance in Puerto Rico.

With that in mind, I decided to talk about an event occurred in 1979,

where several political groups, armed, among them, the popular popular exercise,

known as the Macheteers, made an attack with rifles to a water that transported

members of the marine war of the United States, when they came out of the base of intelligence

in the various areas of the entire base. In this attack, two marines died and around 10

they resulted in wounds.

The decade of 1970 was one of many political activists, specifically groups that fought for the independence of Puerto Rico.

Some organizations pro-independence understood that the armed fight was a strategy that could not be discarded

as part of their political fight. At this time, the federal government was actively trying to avoid

that these groups would achieve their political objectives, so the violence and repression

were part of their strategies to control the called subversive groups.

The prison and the vigilance of men and women of Puerto Rico, were also used

as a mechanism of control and intimidation. Several violent events occurred at this time

and various activists or sympathizers of independent movements died due to these consequences.

Some of these events were the murder of Antonio Martínez Lagares, the 4th of March of 1970,

the death of Luis Ánger Charbonier, the 11th of January 1975, the murder of Santiago Maripez Quera,
