It tends to get warmer a little bit later in Big 10 country than it does in the south. So we're going to touch on that tonight. Ad nauseum. The dead period. That recruiting dead period, we have sort of beaten that drum for a little while, expected maybe it could end on May 31st.

Looks for all the world now like it will end on May 31st. Now, that is kind of a rubber stamp at this point, but what does it mean? This is very important and it's disproportionate. It's not a big deal to Alabama. Could be a huge deal to a program like Auburn or Florida State or Texas. And so a number of programs,

a number of players are going to be impacted by this. Shane Beamer's future. I don't know why. I think it's because the interview Brandon Marcello did with him that we put up on the YouTube channel. It was a big feature on 247 Sports.com. And a lot of you have asked about him. And it's a weird thing right now. Shane Beamer's never been a head coach today in his life, college level,

obviously. And yet it seems like a lot of people are already decided one way or the other, how they think it's going to pan out for him, which is atypical. Normally if a new head coach is on the block, even his own fan base takes a little while before they decide one way or the other. But Shane Beamer is kind of weird. So a lot of people have been asking about him. I have some things to say about him tonight. We're also going to re-crank up the mood tracker segment. And we're talking about Penn State football. And I also meant to tell you the other night. So let me put it out there now. the next late kick show owners association meeting we do as always will depend on you but the

benchmark we want to hit this time, it's not going to be Twitter. This time we're looking for, I think it's 2000, when we get to 2,000 followers on the Instagram account, which is at late kick Josh. So with all the housekeeping out of the way, let's dive in. Let's talk some college football tonight. Let's head to the Big Ten. Biggest spring questions in the Big Ten, boy, it's a loaded spring. I don't know what the fall is going to look like, but there are a lot of places that we can go in the Big Ten. And I had to whittle this down to one, two, three, four, but I had like eight or nine.

So I think this is the most interesting question in the entire conference this spring, and it will obviously extend into this fall. The whole quarterback dynamic there, we recently had a transfer come in, but I think a lot of folks up there assume that the main two players in this battle are going to end up being, in no particular order, J.J. McCarthy, five-story incoming freshman. And then you've also got obviously Cade McNamara, who played last year his start the season. It was Joe Milton's season. And then Cade McNamara takes over and Joe Milton's no longer there.

But Cade McNamara, he didn't put up Heisman numbers or anything like that, but I'll tell you what he did. He did put up a Heisman number in the turnover category. Didn't have many of those, did he? So Cade McNamara's got the advantage of having been there. J.J. McCarthy's obviously probably got the talent edge. So the biggest question to me about Michigan in the spring is the validation aspect. He's not a junior, he being J.J. McCarthy. It's not a guy

returning. And so obviously you want to validate everything. You want to make sure that all the boxes

you think are checked, even as a fan or obviously as a coach, when you were recruiting him,
