It's the beginning of the month beginning of the year in fact and that means it's time to revisit our awards

We're gonna do pretty much all of the NBA's official awards for today will save our kind of self-created fun awards for next week

But let's get started with MVP last month. I had Yannis on a cumpo. Who did you have last month?

I believe I had Yannis as well. Okay. Well, I'm gonna say consistent and I still have him

Although I think James Harden has made it a pretty close race here

Yeah, I was between for me my top three was those two guys and Anthony Davis Davis has kind of a different case

Which we'll get into a little bit later, but I have Yannis number one and what I started getting into was that he's kind of an

Imalgamation of the arguments for different players

So his usage rate is similar to LeBron and Steph Curry instantly Yannis is the greatest pretty close to James Hardens

Which was surprising to me and it's above Steph Curry's and Yannis of course has a much higher defensive value than the offense first guys

You know if we want to talk about Yannis versus AD in that component that's something there

But I think Yannis has been superior

Offensively and so that plus if you want a factor in team success a little bit that has been the that makes the kind of the

Tybreaker for me with him is that he doesn't have the best argument in everything over everybody

But I think his cumulative one is is a little bit better. Yeah, and the advanced stats are in Yannis's favor

I would say at at this point in time when I introduce a new metric here

I talked a little bit about this on a previous show Jacob Goldstein's player impact plus minus PIPM and basically what that tries to do is

Eliminate for luck and where does luck come from well it comes on defense from

Teams hitting unsustainable numbers of three pointers against you or even shooting a better percentage at the foul line

Then would be expected free throw defense

It doesn't actually exist and then on offense to a teammates hitting free throws teammates hitting

More three pointers than would be expected now that last point he tries to regress it back to the overall team three-pointed

...
