Software-defined vehicles are front and center in the auto industry. Consumers are demanding them.

Automakers are struggling in some cases to figure out how to roll them out. For today's episode I'm bringing you a

panel discussion on that topic that occurred September 24th at our

Automotive News Congress event held in the Greater Detroit area with a terrific

panel of experts from big automakers, tech companies, and traditional suppliers.

But first we have our weekly look at this week's headlines and for that I'm pleased to be joined by automotive news executive editor Jamie Butters.

Good Pete, how are you?

I am great. I am actually down here in Texas following up Automotive News Congress with a trip to move.

Yeah, I saw you there and then you're like, okay, I'm going to catch my plane now so how was how was move what

did you see down there move is very interesting you know I I was at

Congress the first day, which was the autonomous vehicle day down in Austin,

but I caught the electric vehicle day, which was day two of move and you know a lot of interesting startups working in the space

I think I've got some ideas for future shift podcasts and and you know and perhaps you know

maybe just taking a step back, one of the more interesting developments here at the Move America Mobility Conference is that it's moving from Austin to Detroit next year.

So ostensibly, we're going to have Automotive News Congress and the

the fourth electrification conference and move America all in a in the same short time frame.

Wow that's that is going to be crazy. Yes, but a lot of good, a lot of good conversations down here in Austin this week and you know I met up with Volkswagen to hear about their autonomous vehicle program that uses the ID

buzz that's here in Austin along with others doing self-driving testing.
