In today's episode, we're going to talk about the relationship between nature and well-being.

More to come on that in a moment, first, let's settle in together with the sound of the

bells.

Okay, so there's a lot of emerging research around the relationship between being outside,

being around plants, trees, flowers, being in nature in general, and our well-being.

I'm not going to speak to the science.

It's robust, and maybe a future episode that will be something to dive into.

Instead, I want to talk about how nature itself and the aliveness of nature connects us

to an essential part of our humaneness that I think we can easily get disconnected from

when we sterilize our lives, or we shelter ourselves from the wildness of the world around

us.

I don't think this sheltering is, like nobody's really to blame for it, so much of how

we've evolved has been based on what we perceive will bring us more comfort and safety,

and so often that looks like one, like not being necessarily in the jungle where there

might be snakes or animals that we have to fend ourselves against, and it might look

like having a certain house that has a ceiling and is insulated.

And so I think sometimes we can poopoo these things, look at it as a product of a materialistic

world, in some cases, the product of colonialism.

Those are nuanced conversations we won't go too deep into it.
