0:40.0	This day, July 10, 1844, troops withdraw from Philadelphia following riots, the second
0:47.6	in a series of riots over the previous few months.
0:50.9	These riots had left 15 dead and about 50 people injured.
0:54.8	They'd kind of popped up in the wake of the Independence Day celebrations a week earlier
0:58.9	around July 4th, and the violence intention was wrapped up in some of those questions about Americanism immigration patriotism religion as we'll discuss this is part of a moment when nativism is springing back up along many of those lines. The violence itself,
1:14.8	thousands of troops in the streets, guns, and cannon fire on both sides.
1:19.2	As I said, dozens wounded and killed. So here to discuss nativism, the riots in
