Hi there everybody, welcome to a special edition of the Gary Neville podcast.

Maybe the last one of the season, we're never quite sure about that, but we're here at Porto Airport,

on our way back having seen England in action in both the games in the Nations League last four, the semi-final extra time,

the third and fourth playoff, extra time and win and penalty shootouts.

So what have you made of it all?

I think an element of sadness and disappointment that we're not there tonight.

We've just got a little television behind us in this coffee shop which is displaying the final

warm-ups obviously you can see there, or we can see, should I say, the Portuguese and the Dutch players out on the pitch.

In England, it would have been a good game for them.

I said that after the World Cup disappointment last year and losing in the semi-final, which was a great tournament,

would those players get there again into this type of atmosphere?

Now, obviously, the Nations League final isn't comparable to a

World Cup 7 final or final, but to get back straight away to a high-level tournament final where

everyone's been involved would have been a big thing. And there was just elements of old habits

that cost us on Thursday night. Today, I was actually happy at the end because of the fact that we've won now two penalty

shootouts in a year. I think that's a big positive. With different penalty takers. With different

penalty takers. So the likes of Sancho, Maguire, Pickford, took one, Berkeley, who may be called upon

next summer to have to take a penalty in a tournament in the Euro. So there's some positives today

in that sense. I thought England were by far the better team, but I thought we knew there were

a better team than Switzerland. I've always thought over the last five or six years, there's certain

countries that you play against that you just think you've got the measure of them. And I think

we've proven that before we've got the measure of Switzerland. I think it's 12 games I'm beating against the Swiss. Their last win over England was 1981 and on the other hand of course the Dutch I think it's two
